the idea of the project is to communicate the ideas of self through a portrait , my idea is to present the idea of sub culture that people use to identify them selfs but the repercussions that it has by society in particularly the gothic sub culture due to how society creates false representations in the media and that cause many people to feel outcasted and act like a pariah in our so called muti cultural society that shuns those who would like to show individuality with their sense of self that they feel comfortable in.

the idea in the images is was to create a feeling of otherness around the subject, the motion blur of the people around her to represent how she is not like them, they are alien to each other, the lack of colour was also used to project the emotion that loneliness can give its occupier, as if all the colour had been sucked out of life as if because of the subjects choice in ideologies and fashion she no longer is accepted by society.

ReplyDeleteThese are interesting tests so where will you be going forwards from here? What is the difference in your mind between the three images you have posted here. I like the blurry traces of passers by. I remember that you talked of going to a very busy place to do your portrait such as London Are you still intending to do this? It is terribly unfortunate that you have injured your finger - will you have time to complete this project for printing on Monday? I also seem to remember that you were thinking that your portrait character would be in colour in contrast to the dull commuters/ faceless citizens but this idea seems to have changed. Colour would be a way of making that contrast. Alternatively you will need to think carefully about the composition of your image to establish that feeling of loneliness. I look forward to seeing the next images
