Phoenix appreciation

so i decided on my photography stills to do regeneration the idea is a temporal shift, typically from old into new, and with each generation technology gets better so I'm going to use a Phoenix to symbolise our generation and with each generation it will change asteticaly as well as the model holding it who will be handling some technology of the area it was set in.

from the most reliable source on the internet .... wikipedia
"Although the phoenix was generally believed to be colorful and vibrant, there is no clear consensus about its coloration. Tacitus claims that its color made it stand out from all other birds.[11] Some thought that the bird had peacock-like coloring, and Herodotus' claim of red and yellow is popular in many versions of the story on record.[12] Ezekiel the Dramatist declared that the phoenix had red legs and striking yellow eyes,[10] but Lactantiussaid that its eyes were blue like sapphires[13] and that its legs were covered in scales of yellow-gold with rose-colored talons.[14]"

far future

so the change in time should reflect on both the person and the phoenix

  • so the change in time reflects our technology
  • the change in the model is how technology effects us (end game will probly refer to the singularity end of the world robots style)
  • the phoenix will reflect our cultures ideas and myths and how they change do to how we understand the world with technology
we as a species regenerate the next generation always others rebirth and further understanding and enlightenment then the generation before it, the idea that we as a culture is like a phoenix because we are born and nurtured on the ashes of our cultures past incarnation where we can advance or cripple their views or dominate ideologies where as technology is as well as two sides to this

for instance now that the life expectancy is much higher which is a great thing, however those people who are in power can effectively stay in power for longer and if they have negative or even dangerous views about a certain topic, not only would that be the dominate ideology that would be difficult to shift but the younger generations with bright ideas and talents can be shot down because of the eldar generation in power may not agree or even care

did i just go on a rant and i kinda lost my point but these thoughts may help me construct these images to keep both narrative and a comment about our dependacy on technology ....
funny i say that i know that the career i want to go in is very digital.

regeneration

so my idea of regeneration seems to be warped by that of the media, be it a phenoix rising from the ashes, or a lizard regrowing its tale or even the end of a series of doctor who and we get to find out who the next doctor is. neddles to say i think this objective was some what difficult seeing as i was looking for one thing and google was telling me no ( good job google).

needless to say i did find something (queue the triumphant music)

Virginia Echeverria Whipple

aslo i think it is important to add her bout section here in this post

"100% analog collages"

yeah that's literally it, short and sweet

she uses mixed media to create her photos

so i guess its my turn to create some images like this, unforntantly not feeling so well so i will be using archived photos that i shot and going from there.

firstly i would like to say that it is actully really hard trying to recreate these photos i tried to recreate the first one and it was extremely difficult, i feel that from the get go it went wrong but this is a wonderful learning experience. although i feel like i did get the method right the execution could have been done a little better.

experimental sound production - research

the persistence of memory (Spain 1931)

by Salvador Dali

from Wikipedia

"Description
The well-known surrealist piece introduced the image of the soft melting pocket watch. It epitomizes Dalí's theory of "softness" and "hardness", which was central to his thinking at the time. As Dawn Ades wrote, "The soft watches are an unconscious symbol of the relativity of space and time, a Surrealist meditation on the collapse of our notions of a fixed cosmic order". This interpretation suggests that Dalí was incorporating an understanding of the world introduced by Albert Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity. Asked by Ilya Prigogine whether this was in fact the case, Dalí replied that the soft watches were not inspired by the theory of relativity, but by the surrealist perception of a Camembert cheese melting in the sun.Although fundamentally part of Dalí's Freudian phase, the imagery precedes his transition to his scientific phase by fourteen years, which occurred after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.The orange clock at the bottom left of the painting is covered in ants. Dalí often used ants in his paintings as a symbol of decay. It is possible to recognize a human figure in the middle of the composition, in the strange "monster" that Dalí used in several contemporary pieces to represent himself – the abstract form becoming something of a self-portrait, reappearing frequently in his work. The figure can be read as a "fading" creature, one that often appears in dreams where the dreamer cannot pinpoint the creature's exact form and composition. One can observe that the creature has one closed eye with several eyelashes, suggesting that the creature is also in a dream state. The iconography may refer to a dream that Dalí himself had experienced, and the clocks may symbolize the passing of time as one experiences it in sleep or the persistence of time in the eyes of the dreamer.
The Persistence of Memory employs "the exactitude of realist painting techniques" to depict imagery more likely to be found in dreams than in waking consciousness."
from legomenon.com
  •  the melting and distorted clocks symbolize the erratic passage of time that we experience while dreaming.
  • Salvador Dali illustrates how useless, irrelevant, and arbitrary our normal concept of time is inside the dream state.

Fall Out boy live in isington assembly rooms

january the 14th i had the pleasure of going to see fall out boy these are a few images i have taken

with many more images to edit i decided to look at famous gig photographers and do some research

pennie smith

i actually watch a documentary on Netflix about Anton and his relationship with his subjects called Anton Corbijn Inside out

he is a wonderful photographer mostly using black and white polorides that inspired a cult status in music with his imagery

i tried to even recreate something similar to his style purley off memory this photo happened to also be taken on the day off the gig, trying to recreate the harsh contrast but clearly similar but not quite there.
